Maniacs

This program is a pathway to competitive Taekwondo starting at club level and progressing to state, national and international levels. The MANIACS program opens the door to not only engaging in the sport on a competitive level but will also encourage you to further develop your skills, learn to work as a team and learn to train in a controlled but pressured environment catered to encourage young athletes in this sport.

Our MANIACS program begins at blue belt level being the minimum requirement (with some exceptions) and usually aged about 8 years. Most competitions at this level are club focused and conducted in a very strict, controlled environment. You are expected to purchase all protective equipment necessary for your group which can be purchased from us.

New students to the MANIACS are offered a free semester and are required to have the following minimum protective equipment:

  • Plastic Arm guards ($55) (cotton will suffice temporarily if you have them)

  • Plastic Shin guards ($55) (cotton will suffice temporarily if you have them)

  • Groin guard ($30) (boys only - compulsory)

  • White or clear mouth guard (we do not sell mouth guards - compulsory)

Above items other than mouth guards may be ordered through us. The activities during class do involve contact so protective equipment is compulsory. The contact is only to the protected areas of the body. There is no head contact or head kicks allowed at this level. You will be taught how to hone your foundation skills to be able to score points effectively and to be able to block body attacks. We have been running the MANIACS program for over three decades and have had minimal injury. But this is a contact activity and there is a certain degree of risk, which is minimised through careful monitoring, number of coaches on the floor, experienced teaching, clear instructions and an option always for students to opt out of any activity.

Equipment AFTER your free trial;

  • Plastic Arm guards ($55)

  • Plastic Shin guards ($55)

  • Groin guard ($30) (boys only - compulsory)

  • White or clear mouth guard (we do not sell mouth guards - compulsory)

  • Body Protector ($70)

  • Head Guard ($70)

  • Hand gloves ($45)

  • Foot gloves ($45)
